Every once in a while I participate in MAX, aka the Multi Artist eXchange, a biweekly art trade party run by Comic Dish, my webcomic host. Anyone can join, you just need to make a forum account. Anyway, here are some recent MAX things:
First is Nadene Madora, a character belonging to Arktik-Alice. Ahahaha, dappled lighting, my new love! I want to use it on everything now!
Next is an unusual one. I made art for A Twu's Save the Domes, which doesn't really have any characters, but does have a unique setting. The theme for this round was your character + your person's character, so I stuck my W&C chars on top of a dome there. Urgh, this picture. I tried to do perspective to it, but I don't think it worked.

Hellboy
Er, Anung Un Rama, when he looks like this.
Sooo Hellboy is basically the best. I read a few of the books last summer, but now I'm trying to read them all, and mmmmm so good. Luckily my library has a really good comics collection, so I can get them free and easily. If you ever get a chance, if you like adventure-horror-fairytale-mysteries, you should read them! The movies from a few years back are good too, even if they are pretty different.
This is made of gouache (oh horror!), ink, marker, and a bunch of other stuff on a scrap of illustration board. I didn't really touch it up post-scanning, so you can still see where I painted over inking mistakes and stuff.

Monsters and girls
Here are some recent things-- first off, a couple of chimeras, including a truly silly pink and purple tentacle-mulleted beast, and some variations on blue beast lady.
I'm trying to vary up my character designs, trying some cartoonier things. I think I may have gone too far-- they came out a little too much like saucer-eyed bobbleheads. Decently cute, though; I may try more along these lines.
Here's Marnie, one of my sister's characters.
A quick sketch of Shahanna I did recently. Looking for a bg texture led me to the Hubble telescope site, which is a pretty sweet resource. Apparently all the photos that come directly from the telescope (most, if not all, of the images on the site) are public domain and free to use! They're pretty large, too, which is great for art.

Mickey Mice
One of our last exercises in Layout class, like, ages ago, was to try redesigning Mickey Mouse. I gave it a few goes. There's actual mouse Mickey, romance novel (??) Mickey, standard Mickey, Walt Disney Mickey, and preteen Mickey + Minnie:
Kaitlin said I should clean this one up, so I did (kind of):
And then there's this. Behold, the glorious miracle of artistic collaboration! with Doug and Ben.
I am so, so sorry.

Cutout Animation
This is from a little while ago. When I made it, I thought is was pretty good, but now, a few weeks later... ugh, so stiff and not-fluid-at-all. But I thought I should post it anyway, for posterity.
Well, she's cute, at least. :P
